Childcare & Our Curriculum

Within our single story garden rooms, we look after our 0-2 year old children. There are two garden rooms one dedicated to all the babies(Wrens), and one for our toddlers(Larks).

Within the nursery house the upstairs is dedicated to the 2 - 3 year old children(Swifts/Skylarks), and in our downstairs room and outdoor classroom we look after the pre-school children(Robins).

The children will transition throughout the nursey setting on an individual child basis and this will always be discussed with both parents and carers.

Outdoor play is of utmost importance to us at Hessle Pre School Nursery.  We have all weather surfaces within the front and rear garden, along with mud kitchens and play houses, construction areas, sandpits and water play. 

We have our own gardening club called Little Shoots where the children have fun planting seeds and watching their plants, vegetables and fruits grow and these can be used in our freshly cooked meals and snacks throughout the day.

Our setting is equipped with age appropriate toys and equipment and our rooms also are split into age-related areas ensuring always that staff ratios are adhered to:

0 -2                (1:3 ratio)

2-3                 (1:4 ratio)

3 upwards    (1:8 ratio)

We operate an open-door policy and will encourage and are happy for you to contact us at any time to check your child is settled and happy whilst at the nursery.

Our setting’s curriculum focuses on the importance of knowledge and skills and will support all children in every way possible.

Our priority is to ensure that children learn through play and we will offer exciting, stimulating and fun interest-based opportunities and experiences to ensure that children fulfil their full potential through indoor and outdoor provision.

We recognise that a child’s learning goes beyond our nursery setting and experiences, and we will promote close partnerships with our parents, carers, other settings and the wider community.

Staff will be excellent role models to the children in their care and help to promote confident, independent-thinking, positive children.

We will develop children’s skills in the prime areas of the EYFS as we recognise that this is vital in everyday, later life.
